Portland Timbers News Release
Timbers return home to face FC Dallas Saturday at Providence Park
PORTLAND, Ore. - After a stretch of two straight road games, the Portland Timbers return to the Rose City to take on FC Dallas at Providence Park on Saturday; kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific). The match, presented by Daimler, will be broadcast live on ROOT SPORTS with a local radio broadcast on 750/102.9 The Game and in Spanish on La GranD 93.5 FM .
Portland (0-1-3, 3pts) enters Saturday's match unbeaten in its last six matches at Providence Park (3-0-3), dating back to the final four home contests of the 2014 regular season. During that stretch, the Timbers have outscored their opponents 11-5, posting four shutouts, while having surrendered just two goals in their last five home matches. Kicking off the 2015 season presented by Simple, Portland kept two dangerous strikers in Real Salt Lake's Alvaro Saborio and LA Galaxy's Robbie Keane off the score sheet in consecutive draws (March 7-15) in the Rose City.
Playing the second of back-to-back road matches, the Timbers logged 2015 MLS season-high marks in possession (66 percent), passing accuracy (88 percent) and passing accuracy in the attacking third (77 percent) in their last match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on March 28 at BC Place in Vancouver. Forward Fanendo Adi tallied a late equalizer, netting his third goal in four games, in the 82nd minute to level the score before Vancouver substitute forward Robert Earnshaw scored the eventual game-winning goal in the first minute of second-half stoppage time.
The Timbers are unbeaten in five straight homes games (3-0-2) against FC Dallas, dating back to Portland's fifth-ever MLS match on April 17, 2011. Portland has scored multiple goals in each of its last two regular-season matches against FC Dallas, including a 2-0 win in the most recent meeting in Frisco, Texas, on Oct. 25, 2014. The Timbers have lost just one match in their last seven regular-season meetings with FC Dallas (3-1-3).
FC Dallas (3-0-1, 10pts) enters Saturday's match following a scoreless draw with Seattle Sounders FC on March 28 at Toyota Stadium, snapping the team's three-game winning streak to start the season. Led by forward Blas Pérez's three goals this season, FC Dallas comes to the Rose City tied for the league lead with six goals, while conceding just once in four matches.
Following Saturday's match, the Timbers play host to MLS expansion side Orlando City SC on Sunday, April 12, at Providence Park; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Pacific). The match against Orlando City SC will feature a national broadcast on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes (Spanish) with a local radio broadcast on 750/102.9 The Game and in Spanish on LaGranD 95.3 FM.
