Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers play host to the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, Sept. 8, in a match presented by KeyBank, at Providence Park. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific), the match will feature a local television broadcast on FOX 12 PLUS (KPDX) and local radio broadcasts on 750 AM/102.9 FM The Game (English) and La GranD 1150 AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
Recent form
Portland (11-7-8, 41pts) earned a point on the road against the New England Revolution on Sept. 1 and picked up a 2-0 win against Toronto FC at Providence Park on Aug. 29. Lawrence Olum recorded the game-tying goal in the team's 1-1 draw against the Revolution, while Diego Chara and David Guzmán tallied goals in the Timbers win over Toronto FC.
Against the Western Conference
The Timbers have posted a mark of 8-4-3 overall against Western Conference opponents in 2018, including a record of 5-2-1 at Providence Park. In the last meeting against the Rapids on May 26, Portland registered a 3-2 win on the road behind a brace from Samuel Armenteros and a goal from Diego Valeri. Saturday's match marks the 20th league meeting between Portland and Colorado since the 2011 season. The Timbers are of 9-7-3 against the Rapids since 2011, including a mark of 7-1-0 at Providence Park. Portland has won its last seven home matches against Colorado, outscoring the Rapids, 14-3.
Scouting the Rapids
Colorado (6-14-6, 24pts) enters Saturday's match having suffered back-to-back losses. In their most recent match, the Rapids lost 6-0 to Real Salt Lake on Aug. 25. Individually, three players are tied for the team lead in goals scored with three goals each: Edgar Castillo, Tommy Smith and Joe Mason. Additionally, Castillo has tallied a team-high five assists.

The Timbers travel for a road match against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, Sept. 15, at BBVA Compass Stadium.
