PORTLAND, Ore. - After last week's 3-2 overtime win over Milwaukee, the undefeated Portland Timbers take to the road this weekend, beginning with Friday's match at defending A-League champion-Charleston (2-3-3, 9pts), followed by a match at Atlanta (3-3-1, 10pts) on Saturday, where they'll meet the much-improved Silverbacks.

TIMBERS AT CHARLESTON - FRIDAY, 5 p.m. (Pacific) The Timbers make their first-ever trip to Blackbaud Stadium Friday, where they'll do battle with Charleston in a nationally televised game on Fox Sports World. The Battery lost its last match, 4-2 to Atlanta, and has been outscored 13-11 through eight games thus far in 2004. Forward Greg Simmonds is the leading scorer for the Battery and former Timber Nick Downing has started in seven games as a defender. Friday's match is the only meeting between the two clubs this season.

TIMBERS AT ATLANTA - SATURDAY, 3 p.m. (Pacific) The Timbers will play the second game of their back-to-back Southern swing at Atlanta on Saturday, taking on the Silverbacks at DeKalb Memorial Stadium. With a win over the Timbers, the Silverbacks would equal their entire win total of 2003, when they finished 4-17-7. Forward Mac Cozier leads the charge up top for Atlanta with four goals on the year and Gary Brooks is featured on this week's A-League Team of the Week after tallying a goal and an assist in last week's 4-2 win over Charleston. Saturday will be the first-ever meeting between Atlanta and Portland.

TIMBERS VIEWING PARTY AT McFADDEN'S The Timbers will be holding a viewing party at McFadden's Restaurant and Saloon at 107 N.W. Couch, beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. In-house discounts will be offered to Timbers fans throughout the match and Timbers mascot Timber Jim will be raffling off Timbers gear at halftime.

ALL IN THE FAMILY Charleston striker and 2001 A-League MVP Paul Conway is the son of Timbers assistant coach Jimmy Conway.
