
Timbers Take on Cascadia Rival Seattle Sounders FC at Providence Park Tonight

The Portland Timbers will host Cascadia rival Seattle Sounders FC at Providence Park tonight, Saturday, April 15 in the two clubs' first matchup of the season. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) and will be streamed live on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app in English and Spanish as well as local radio broadcasts, 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
Tonight's match marks the 39th MLS meeting between the Timbers and Sounders FC (including playoffs) and the first of the 2023 season. The Timbers lead the series with a mark of 16-15-7 overall and 10-7-3 when playing at Providence Park. Portland is unbeaten in three straight matches against the Sounders (3-0-0), dating back to Aug. 29, 2021, outscoring them 7-1 in that stretch. In the 2022 campaign, the Timbers swept the series against Seattle with two wins, marking the first time the Timbers had gone unbeaten against Sounders FC in a season since 1981. The last time the two sides faced off, Portland earned a 2-1 comeback win at Providence Park on Aug. 26, 2022. The Timbers claimed its third Cascadia Cup title in club history (2022, 2017, 2012) last year, finishing the 2022 competition with a combined record of 3-0-1 over Seattle (2-0-0) and Vancouver (1-0-1).
