
Timbers Storm Back for 2-1 Comeback Win over New York City FC on the Road

NEW YORK - Playing their first road match of the 2024 MLS campaign, the Portland Timbers earned a 2-1 comeback win over New York City FC at Yankee Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Trailing 1-0 in the 85th minute, Antony notched his team-best third goal of the season to equalize for Portland. In the final minute of stoppage time, Evander scored from distance to secure three points for the Timbers to stay atop the Western Conference standings.
Setting the Standard
Portland has started its 2024 MLS campaign unbeaten with a mark of 2-0-1 and is currently first in the Western Conference with a goal differential of four. It marks the best start of any head coach in club history for Phil Neville. Notably, today's result was the first time Portland has won a match after trailing at half time on the road since November 30, 2018, against Sporting KC. Scoring in the 85th and 97th mins to comeback from a 1-0 deficit, the Timbers recorded their latest comeback win in club history.

POR - Evander (Antony), 90+7 minute: With his back to goal, Antony laid the ball off near the corner of the 18-yard box for Evander, who took one touch and curled a pinpoint shot from distance into the upper 90 of the goal.
