Portland Timbers News Release

Undefeated Portland club rolls through three countries in four days before traveling to Vancouver next Friday

For immediate release: June 3, 2005 PORTLAND, Ore. - The undefeated Portland Timbers (3-0-3, 12pts) begin a three-game eastern swing that takes them to Rochester on Friday, Toronto on Saturday and Puerto Rico on Monday. The team will return home before traveling to Vancouver to take on the Whitecaps next Friday. All games will be broadcast live on the Internet at www.portlandtimbers.com.

TIMBERS AT ROCHESTER - FRIDAY, JUNE 3 - 4:35 p.m. (Pacific) Portland is 0-2 all-time against the Raging Rhinos (2-4-1, 7pts), who have started slow this season despite beating Toronto 5-3 on Tuesday. Kirk Wilson tallied a hat trick in the win. The Timbers dropped their lone decision at Frontier Field, 1-0 (OT), in 2001.

TIMBERS AT TORONTO - SATURDAY, JUNE 4 - 4:30 p.m. (Pacific) The Timbers trounced the Lynx 3-0 in the season opener on April 23, but it won't be an easy task repeating the shutout performance in the second game of a back-to-back set on the road. Fortunately for the Timbers, the Lynx play at Montreal the night prior and will be in similar match condition. Toronto (0-6-3, 3pts) traded goal-scorer Ali Gerba to Montreal last month and is 0-1-1 since the roster move.

TIMBERS AT PUERTO RICO - MONDAY, JUNE 6 - 5 p.m. (Pacific) The Puerto Rico Islanders (2-2-3, 9pts) are an improved club in their second season in the league, playing Minnesota to a 1-1 draw Thursday night. Timbers fans may remember former Timber Noah Delgado, former Seattle Sounder Marco Velez and goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, who was Portland's second-round selection in this year's college draft, but signed with the Islanders. Portland won the lone meeting between the two clubs, 5-0, at PGE Park in 2004.
