Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers today announced the formation of the Portland Timbers Television Network, which will afford supporters in three additional Oregon markets the opportunity to watch all 34 of the team's regular-season games in 2012. The Timbers are partnering with NTVZ/Central Oregon's CW in Bend, Ore., KEVU/MyNetworkTV in Eugene, Ore., and KFBI/My 48 in Medford, Ore., to air the club's local package of live matches that originate on KPTV/Fox 12 in Portland.
This season, the Timbers will be featured 10 times nationally on NBC, NBC Sports Network, ESPN and ESPN2, with an additional 13 games televised regionally on ROOT SPORTS, which serves more than 3.7 million cable and satellite homes in Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Washington. With today's announced partnerships, the remaining games will be televised locally in the Portland, Bend, Eugene and Medford markets on the Portland Timbers Television Network.
"We are extremely pleased to be able to bring more Timbers soccer to our fans throughout the state with our new television partnerships," said Timbers COO Mike Golub. "Our second season promises to be another exciting one and we are happy that the Portland Timbers Television Network continues to grow."
The first matchup on the schedule of matches featured on the Portland Timbers Television Network is April 7, as Portland takes on Chivas USA at JELD-WEN Field at 7:30 p.m.
