Sporting KC Goalkeeper Eric Kronberg out 4-6 Weeks

Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Eric Kronberg is expected to miss four to six weeks with a lower back injury, the club announced Thursday. The 28-year-old is the longest tenured player for Sporting Kansas City and enters his seventh season with Sporting Kansas City in 2012 after being drafted out of the University of California in 2006.

The Santa Rosa, Calif. native posted 10 saves in four MLS appearances in 2011 and recorded his first career shutout in a scoreless draw at Toronto. Kronberg also started eight MLS Reserve League matches in 2011, recording three shutouts.

Sporting Kansas City recorded a 4-1 victory on Thursday in a pre-season exhibition against the United States Under-17 National Team at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Also announced on Thursday, LIVESTRONG Sporting Park will host the inaugural Kevin Gray Father's Day 5k Run on Saturday, June 16. The event will celebrate the life of Kevin Gray, former President of the KC Sports Commission, and recognize his contributions to the Sports Commission and the community. On Friday, individual game tickets for the semifinals and final matches of 2012 Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournament at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park will go on sale starting at 10 a.m. CT. The semifinal matches that determine CONCACAF's two entrants to the 2012 Olympic Games in London will be played as a doubleheader event on Saturday, March 31, at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. CT. The championship game will take place on Monday, April 2, at 7 p.m. CT.
