
Tigers Battle Late But Fall Short against Staten Island

Norwich, CT - Ryan Kreidler went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, but the Connecticut Tigers (17-20) fell 3-2 against the Staten Island Yankees (17-19). Staten Island did not have a multi-run inning in the contest.
Kreidler opened the scoring for the Tigers with an RBI double to score Riley Greene. Kona Quiggle added to the lead as the next batter in the inning. The 16th-round draft pick drove in Kreidler on an RBI single to make it 2-0.
Quiggle finished the night 1-for-4 with an RBI. Greene also picked up a hit going 1-for-3 with a double.
Jerry Seitz brought home a run on an RBI single to center field to make it 2-1. Staten Island totaled three hits in the inning. Jack O'Loughlin got the start for the Tigers. The 19-year-old Australian went four innings giving up one run on six hits and struck out four.
Staten Island tied the game in the fifth on a wild pitch to make it 2-2. In the seventh, the Yankees got an RBI double off of Michael Bienlien (Loss, 0-1) to take the lead in the contest, 3-2.
Bienlien went three innings surrendering one run on two hits with two strikeouts. He retired seven in a row to end his outing. Aaron McGarity (Win, 3-0) pitched 3.1 scoreless innings with one hit and five strikeouts.
In the eighth, the Tigers got runners in scoring position with one out but could not convert against Daniel Ramos (Save, 1). Ramos pitched two innings for a six-out save. He set Connecticut down in order in the ninth.
The Connecticut Tigers will play against the Staten Island Yankees on Camp Day tomorrow morning.
