
Tidwell Shines, Ponies Drop Tight Series Finale at New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (10-10) fell to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Delta Dental Stadium in the series finale. The Ponies took four games in the six-game series.
Rumble Ponies starting pitcher Blade Tidwell was dominant. Tidwell struck out nine batters over a season-high 6.2 innings, while allowing just two hits, two walks, and one earned run. After giving up a hit with one out in the third, the 22-year-old retired the next 13 batters in a row. Tidwell threw 88 pitches and 61 strikes (81%).
New Hampshire (9-12) got on the board in the third inning when Riley Tirotta singled and Andrés Sosa scored on an error. Tirotta eventually came in to score on an RBI groundout from Garrett Spain to make it 2-0.
Brandon McIlwain led off the seventh inning with a solo home run the opposite way, which cut the Ponies' deficit to 2-1. It marked McIlwain's first home run of the season.
The Rumble Ponies bullpen was also dominant. Nolan Clenney pitched two thirds of an inning with a strikeout and issued one walk. Daniel Juarez tossed two thirds of an inning and needed just three pitches to record two outs.
The Rumble Ponies will begin a six-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats (Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) at Mirabito Stadium on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6:05 PM and the game will be broadcast live on WNBF News Radio 1290 & 92.1 FM.
