Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME - The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (8-6) walk off with a 6-5 win against the North Shore Navigators (7-4) on Tuesday afternoon at The Ballpark. CJ Picerni (Oak Park, CA/Cal Lutheran University) went 4-5 with the game-winning single to right field to score the winning run in the ninth inning.

Both teams struck for a run in the first inning, but the Navs broke the tie in the top of the third with a triple by John Hennessey (Andover, MA/Boston College), then scored on a single by Devin Carter (Temecula, CA/Pepperdine University). North Shore added another run to their lead in the top of the fourth, but the Tide responded for two runs in the bottom half to cut the deficit to 4-3.

The home side took advantage of the Navigators defensive miscues, as an error by the shortstop plated in Matt Pagano (Cranston, RI/Marist) to bring the game to a 4-4 stalemate.

After both teams exchanged runs in the sixth and eighth inning, the Navs threatened in the top of the ninth with the bases loaded with no outs, but were able to get away unscathed.

Dylan Begin (St. Albans, VT/UMass) led off the top of the ninth with a double, then advanced to third on a sacrifice by Zach Collett (Westbrook, ME/University of New Haven) to set up the eventual game-winning shot by Picerni.

Brandon Walsh (North Andover, MA/UMass Amherst) was charged with the loss for North Shore, while Evan Brisentine (San Roman, CA/Santa Clara) got the victory after tossing one inning.

The Raging Tide will return to action tomorrow as they travel down to Portsmouth to take on their I-95 rival the Seacoast Mavericks at 6:35pm.
