Pittsfield Suns News Release
The Pittsfield Suns (7-6) had to deal with another game affected by rain, but this time it worked in their favor. After a long road trip to Old Orchard Beach the night before, the Suns once again headed out on the road to Portsmouth to take on the Seacoast Mavericks (7-7) for the second time in three days.
The Suns handed the Mavericks a 1-0 loss in just five innings. The game was called due to rain after the Mavericks batted in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Suns only managed two hits in the rain shortened contest, both coming from second baseman Rob McLam (UMass-Lowell). The Suns did not utilize one of those hits to score their lone run. After Morgan Phillips (College of Charleston) and Brendan Slattery (Manhattan College) led off the inning with back to back walks, Luke Reynolds (UMass-Lowell) drove in Phillips with a sacrifice fly.
Starting pitcher Harrison Paige (AIC) carded his first win of the season; allowing just five baserunners on four singles and a walk in five shutout innings.
The Suns return home Wednesday, June 26th for their first matchup against the Brockton Rox (5-8) at 7:00PM.
