Wilson Returns to Raging Tide, Bridgeport Sends Edwards

May 11, 2014 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) - Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME - Two more names have been added to the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide roster as of late. Aaron Wilson from last year's team will be making the trip up to Old Orchard for his second season. Joining him will be Dakota Edwards from the University of Bridgeport.

Aaron Wilson is closing out his sophomore year at the University of Hartford. During his freshman season with the Hawks, the infielder played in 40 games, starting 37 of them. He collected 21 hits while driving in eight runs and scoring 14 times. He led Hartford with 21 walks. He had an even better summer playing for the Raging Tide, which led to him being named to the FCBL All-Star team. He played in 52 regular season games and hit .265, with 49 hits, 27 runs, 7 doubles, a triple, 17 runs batted in, 27 walks and 16 stolen bases. He went on to hit .500 in three playoff games for the Tide. During his sophomore campaign for Hartford, Wilson has started 43 of the team's 47 games, collecting 30 hits, five doubles, scoring 19 runs, walking 15 times and stealing 13 bases. Wilson will look to add another season of speed to the base paths for the Raging Tide.

A new player heading up north from another Connecticut school is Dakota Edwards from the University of Bridgeport. Edwards is a freshman pitcher from Turlock, California. The 6'2" righty had an incredibly solid first collegiate season with the Purple Knights. In 14 appearances (10 starts), Edwards amassed a 2.68 ERA, tossed three complete games, one shutout, while striking out 60. His .236 opponent's batting average led all Knights' starters, with teammate and fellow Raging Tide pitcher, Brian O'Keefe, coming in at a close second (.239). Edwards and O'Keefe will look to bolster a strong pitching rotation headed to Old Orchard this summer.

The Raging Tide's home opener is on June 4th at 7pm at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach against the Nashua Silver Knights.
