Two-packs are on sale now and are the only ticket packages available until individual tickets are available in two weeks. Each purchase gets fans a ticket to the World Football Challenge as well as the Earthquakes vs. New York Red Bulls match on July 2 at Stanford Stadium. Pricing begins at $50 per two-pack. Groups of 20 or more should call 408.556.7700 and ask to speak to an Earthquakes sales representative.
Manchester City finished third in the English Premier League with 71 points. Led by Argentinean sensation Carlos Tévez and a host of English talents in Shaun Wright-Phillips, James Milner, Wayne Bridge and Joleon Lescott, the Blues advanced to UEFA Champions League qualifying for the first time in club history. Manchester City also took home the FA Cup in what was a landmark season.
Club America is one of the most storied clubs in Mexico and is very familiar to Bay Area fans, as they played Real Madrid at Candlestick Park last year. They also played in the World Football Challenge against Inter Milan at Stanford Stadium in 2009. Las Aguilas, as they are known, finished sixth in the recently completed Clausura in Mexico and qualified for the playoffs before falling to Morelia in the quarterfinals. Mexican National Teamer Angel Reyna Martinez leads the squad and league with 13 goals in 17 games.
The Earthquakes-Red Bulls match on July 2 features U.S. National Teamer Chris Wondolowski, former Arsenal and FC Barcelona striker Thierry Henry and Mexican National Team captain Rafael Marquez. Additionally, fans will be treated to the best fireworks show on the Peninsula following the final whistle. Kickoff for the ESPN2-televised match is 7:30 p.m. PT.
