Tickets on Sale for Florida vs. Florida State at the Baseball Grounds

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns, in conjunction with the JEDC Sports and Entertainment Board, announced today that tickets are now on sale for the much anticipated matchup between the Florida Gators and the Florida State Seminoles at the Baseball Grounds on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 7:05pm.
The game will pit two of the top NCAA baseball programs in the state and the nation in one of the most highly regarded minor league facilities in the country.
The Gators, under head coach Pat McMahon, won the SEC title in 2005 and reached the championship series of the NCAA College World Series the same season. They are expected to be a force in the SEC, returning 21 letter winners and three position starters to the team in 2007.
A perennial ACC powerhouse, Florida State, guided by head coach Mike Martin, open the season ranked #13 by Collegiate Baseball in the nation and are in search of their 29th consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament.
"This is a very exciting event for the City of Jacksonville as well as for Gators and Seminole fans in our area," said Mike Sullivan, Executive Director of the JEDC Sports and Entertainment Board. "The support for both schools in the Jacksonville area is great and we hope to see this turn into a yearly event at the Baseball Grounds."
"We can't think of a better way to kick off an exciting season of baseball at the Baseball Grounds that with a game of this magnitude," added Suns General Manager Kirk Goodman. "Both schools have top-notch baseball programs and the rivalry itself means this is going to be a fun and exciting game."
Tickets for the game are on sale at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville box office. Dugout Box Seats are $15.50, Homeplate Box Seats are $12.50 and General Admission Seats are $8.50. Tickets can be purchased online at www.etix.com or by calling the Suns at 904-358-2846. The Baseball Grounds box office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 5:00pm.
The Jacksonville Suns are the Double-A Affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and a member of the Southern League of Professional Baseball. The Suns open the 2007 season at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on April 5, 2007 against the Tennessee Smokies, the Double-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.
