FORT WAYNE FUSION (5-10) AT QUAD CITY STEAMWHEELERS (9-6)

THURSDAY, JULY 26, 2007 - The i wireless Center (9,437) 8:30 P.M. ET

* Broadcast via B2 Networks

The Fort Wayne Fusion finish out their first season on the road when they tackle the Quad City Steamwheelers Thursday night in Moline, Ill. Fort Wayne's inaugural af2 campaign has been a roller coaster ride filled with plenty of ups and downs. The Fusion should be well rested, however, going into this week's contest against the Steamwheelers after enjoying a bye in Week 17. Fort Wayne's last contest was a 61-48 road loss to Tennesee Valley on July 14. QB BLAYNE BAGGETT completed 18-of-34 passes with one interception for 206 yards and three TDs. WR/LB JERMAINE JACKSON had nine catches for 101 yards and a touchdown, while WR/LB CESARE MANNING had six catches for 65 yards and three TDs. WR/DB DEREK BROWN guided the Fort Wayne defense through the evening with 4.0 tackles. The Fusion rushing offense ranks second in the league, running for 465 yards and 19 trips to the end zone. Manning is the team's top offensive threat with nearly 1,000 yards receiving (995) and 25 receiving touchdowns. Defensively, DBs DEREK BROWN (team-high 80.0 tackles, 2 INTs, 4 FRs) and NATHAN WILLIAMS (67.5 tackles, 3 INTs, 16 PBUs) have been Fort Wayne's standouts in the secondary while LB TYUS JACKSON leads the forces up front with 7.0 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks. Quad City (No. 11 in final Coaches Poll) enters Week 18 after putting up a season-high 83 points in an 83-33 home win against Cincinnati last Friday. The Steamwheelers trio of wide receivers (TOM ANTHONY, KRIS PETERS, JACK WALKER, JR.) made history for the second season in a row as the group became the fifth trio in league history to tally 100 catches and 1,000 receiving yards in the same season. Last year the pass catching combination of Tim Dodge, Peters and Walker each recorded 100 catches and 1,000 receiving yards. Peters had the most impressive individual effort for Quad City against the Jungle Kats with six total touchdowns, including five receiving scores. He also had a 49-yard missed field goal return for a score. Peters and Walker are both in the league's top ten in scoring with 226 and 208 points each, respectively. The Steamwheelers defense, which was led by KEVIN ADAMS and JORDAN DAVIS with 8.0 and 7.0 tackles, respectively, shut out the Jungle Kats in the second half. Adams is sixth in the league with 92.0 tackles on the season, while teammate JERMAINE PETTY has earned himself a fifth-place league ranking with 12.0 sacks overall this season. Fort Wayne wants to end its first season with a win, but the Steamwheelers have lost just once at home in seven contests in 2007. Expect Quad City to play inspired football for the home fans once again this week in the hopes that another win could mean another home game - in the playoffs.
