LAKELAND- After two weeks of rest, the Lakeland ThunderBolts are rejuvenated and looking forward to playing the last to games of the regular season before heading into the playoffs. The last two games of the regular season will be played against division rivals Osceola. The first of these two games Lakeland (11-1) will be played in Osceola (7-5) on June 17, 2006 at 7pm at the Silver Spurs Arena. Osceola is coming off a much needed win over the Cincinnati Marshals, 56-28.
About Osceola: When the ThunderBolts show up at the Silver Spurs Arena, they will be met by a team who is hungry to secure a 2006 playoff spot. Osceola needs to win at least one of these two games against the ThunderBolts in order to secure their spot in the playoff. Two wins over the ThunderBolts would help them with home field advantage during the playoffs. Osceola is second place in the South Division behind the ThunderBolts. The last couple of games Osceola has played have end in heart break, losing to teams that they should have beat. Osceola's win over the Marshals 56-28, should give Osceola some momentum going into Saturday nights game.
About the ThunderBolts: The ThunderBolts are back and ready to play after two weeks of recuperation and rest. The ThunderBolts had a scheduled bye week and then this past week, June 10, were unable to play due to problems with Dayton's arena. These two games are important to the ThunderBolts record for seeding in the Atlantic Conference; this will determine whether or not they play the first round of the playoffs or whether we get a first round bye. The ThunderBolts have already clinched the South Division Title, guaranteeing them a playoff spot. "The break was good for us, it allowed up to rest and help heal some nagging injuries," said Coach Keaton. "We are looking forward to getting back out on the field, winning these last two games of the regular season and making a great playoff run."
The ThunderBolts are at home again June 24 vs. Osceola. Kick off is at 7pm at the Lakeland Center.
