LAKELAND-The Lakeland ThunderBolts are on the road this week when they take on the Greensboro Revolution, this Saturday, March 24 in Greensboro, NC. The ThunderBolts face the Revolution coming off of a 61-20 win against the Florida Frenzy. This is Lakeland's first game of the season on the road.
About the Revolution: The Revolution showed great improvement last week when they beat the Palm Beach Phantoms 34-26 after being shut out by Osceola in their season opener. Greensboro got off to a slow start not scoring in the first quarter of play. It was not until the second quarter with 10:49 on the game clock that WR Braxton Williams put Greensboro on the board. QB Donald Clark completed 15-of-9 passes for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win over Palm Beach. WR Braxton Williams had 4 grabs for 32 yards resulting in 2 touchdowns. LB Joey Lance had 8 solo tackles and one assisted tackle on defense. The Revolution are 1-1 on the season and will be looking to add another win to their column.
About the ThunderBolts: The ThunderBolts will get their first taste of playing on the road when they travel to Greensboro, NC to take on first year Greensboro Revolution. The ThunderBolts head into this match up 2-0 after defeating the Florida Frenzy 61-20. Lakeland's defense had another impressive night shutting out the Frenzy the last three quarters of the game. Once again LB/DB Lance Small led the team in solo tackles with 6. The ThunderBolts defense also had a total of 8 sacks: DB Ararmis Haralson had 1, OL/DL Robert Branch with 3, LB Tavourios Horton with 1, Brenden Givan with 2, and LB/DB Lance Small had 1. On offense QB Jason Johnson completed 17-of-13 passes for 145 yards resulting in 3 touchdowns. RB Perry Tisdale rushed the ball ten times for a gain of 30 yards resulting in 2 touchdowns. K Steve Kratz also had an impressive night when he kick a 51 yard field goal in the third quarter to give the ThunderBolts a 44-20 lead over the Frenzy. The ThunderBolts are looking to go 3-0 with a win over the Revolution.
The ThunderBolts are at home again April 8 vs. Montgomery Maulers. Kick off is at 7pm at the Lakeland Center.
