LAKELAND-The Lakeland ThunderBolts take on the Monroe Twin City Gators, this Saturday, May 6th at 7pm at the Lakeland Center. The ThunderBolts are coming off a huge victory 60-41 over the previously undefeated, Fayetteville Guard. Saturday nights win over the Guard helped to improve Lakeland's record to 6-0. The Monroe Twin City Gators are coming into town after a 40-48 loss to the Beaumont Drillers. The Gators will be chomping at the bit to see if they can beat the undefeated ThunderBolts.

About the Gators: The Monroe Twin City Gators (0-6) are in their inaugural season with the NIFL. The Gators start their two game road trip with a stop in Lakeland after a 40-48 loss to the Beaumont Drillers. The Gators were hoping to break their losing streak, but with ten lead changes and 40 points on the board, it was still not enough to beat the Drillers. The Drillers QB Damone Scott completed 8-of-17 passes for 137 yards, and 1 touchdown. RB Ronald Hayes had a huge night rushing the ball 21 times for 95 yards and 5 touchdowns. WR Pat Palmer also helped to drive the score up with 3 catches for 61 yards and 1 touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball DE Levi Payne had 6 solo blocks along with 4 assisted blocks. The Gators will be hungry Saturday night trying to break their 6 game losing streak.

About the ThunderBolts: In the biggest game of their season, the ThunderBolts once again proved it was a total team effort to beat the number one team in the league the Fayetteville Guard, 60-41. On offense QB Jason Johnson completed 4-of-8 passes for 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Johnson also led the team in rushing with 66 yards and 1 touchdown. WR Mario Robbins rushed for 36 yards and 2 touchdowns. In his first game with the ThunderBolts RB Cortlandt Florence rushed for an impressive 32 yards and scored 2 touchdowns. The ThunderBolts defense, which is number one in the league, was red hot Saturday night too. They held the number one rusher in the league to -1 yards. LB Brenden Givan lead the defense in tackles with 5 solo and 4 assisted. He also recorded 1.5 sacks for a loss of 8 yards. LB Tavourios Horton also added 4 solo blocks and 1 assisted block. The ThunderBolts are looking to improve their undefeated recorded Saturday night to 7-0.

The ThunderBolts are at home again May 20 vs. St. Louis RiverCity Rage. Kick off is at 7pm at the Lakeland Center.
