EVANSVILLE, IN - The Evansville Thunderbolts have acquired Chase Nieuwendyk from the Fayetteville FireAntz. In exchange, Evansville sent defenseman Brandon Lubin to Fayetteville.

Nieuwendyk is playing his first professional season. He finished a four-year collegiate career playing for State University of New York Brockport. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward averaged over a point per game in his four seasons. He scored 46 goals in 92 games. This season, Nieuwendyk has played 27 SPHL games notching four goals and five assists.

In another transaction, Evansville signed goaltender Nick Kohn. Kohn is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound first-year pro from Hartland, Wisconsin. He played American junior hockey in the NAHL and NA3HL. In 2010-2011, Kohn won the NA3HL championship as a member of the Chicago Hitmen. Kohn played four years of college hockey for Milwaukee School of Engineering where he played in 83 games.

Evansville released Goaltender Mike Doan.

Evansville plays its next four games against the Pensacola Ice Flyers. Evansville travels to Pensacola this weekend. The Ice Flyers head to Evansville Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 11. This is the first time the two teams have played each other this season.
