
Thunderbirds Strike in Sask

Saskatoon, SK - Saturday night (Apr.15), the Halifax Thunderbirds topped the Saskatchewan Rush 15-11 on Co-op Field at SaskTel Centre.
Clark Walter opened the scoring and the Rush dominated the first quarter, leading 4-2 thanks to added goals from Robert Church, Dan Lintner and Mike Messenger. Goaltender Alex Buque left the game after Halifax`s second goal with a lower body injury and did not return.
In the following quarter, Holden Garlent notched his fourth goal of the season, with Church adding his second of the game to put the Rush up 6-4 at the half.
The third quarter was much the same, with Walter scoring his second powerplay goal of the game, Church capping off his hat trick and rookie Ryan Barnable buried one in transition to put the home side up 9-6 heading into the final frame.
With their playoff hopes on the line, Halifax exploded for nine goals in the fourth quarter, pulling off the comeback to win 15-11 in enemy territoy.
Eric Penney stopped 40 shots in the loss. Warren Hill made 34 saves for the win.
Next up, the Saskatchewan Rush host the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday, April 22nd.
