
Thunderbirds Announce Upcoming Theme Nights

Rio Rancho, NM - The New Mexico Thunderbirds will be presenting a number of theme nights for the 2010-11 Season, including the following November and December dates:
Opening weekend, Nov. 26th and 27th, will feature back-to-back Military Appreciation Nights, during which time fans will be able to show their gratitude to all of the service members in our local community by coming together to honor the United States Armed Forces. All fans will be able to purchase two Bonus Zone tickets for $20. Tickets may be used in any combination fans choose - two tickets for one game or one ticket for each game. Festivities will include Military Salute Fan Tunnels and post-game autograph sessions with the Team. Blue Star Moms will be present on Saturday night collecting toiletries and other items to benefit soldiers overseas. Paws and Stripes will also be present during the weekend to promote its program uniting homeless pets and returning Veterans. Friday Dec. 3rd is Girl Scout Night. All Girl Scouts will be able to purchase $15 tickets from the Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails. The ticket will include a New Mexico Thunderbirds Girl Scout Patch. Coach Darvin Ham will be speaking to the Girl Scouts before the game about leadership and the Girl Scouts will be presenting the flags during the National Anthem. They will also be involved with in-game promotions, have the opportunity for a post-game meet and greet with Thunderbirds players and be able to take photos on the floor after the game. The Thunderbirds will also be presenting College Night on Friday Dec. 3rd. Students that show college identification will be able to purchase eight dollar tickets. They will also have the opportunity to register to win two free passes for a day of skiing at Taos Ski Valley.
Saturday Dec. 4th is Rio Rancho Youth Basketball Night. The Thunderbirds will be showcasing all Rio Rancho Youth Basketball players in a pre-game ceremony. All Rio Rancho youth basketball participants are encouraged to wear their jerseys and line up on the court to take part in the largest fan tunnel of the year. Each participant will stand along the edge of the court during pregame warm-ups and player introductions to see and feel firsthand the excitement of Thunderbirds basketball. The youth basketball players will also be a part of in game promotions, an autograph session, a post-game layup line and post-game photos on the floor.
Friday Dec. 17th is Toys for Tots Night, sponsored by Power 106 and the United States Marines, who will be collecting unwrapped toys for underprivileged children. The Thunderbirds will be offering *Buy One Get One Free* tickets for all fans that bring an unwrapped toy to be donated. Kids will also have the opportunity to take pictures with "Thunder Claus."
