Six strong innings by Brian Keller and a pair of early runs set the tone for the Thunder, who defeated the Portland Sea Dogs, 4-1, on Sunday at ARM & HAMMER Park in front of a crowd of 5,341.

Keller struck out a season-high nine batters, walked none, and allowed just one run on six hits over six innings of work for the Thunder (59-47). Jordan Foley pitched the final three innings, retiring nine of the 10 batters he faced to record the save.

Gosuke Katoh led off the bottom of the first inning with a single off Portland (43-62) starter Mike Shawaryn. He advanced to third on a double by Trey Amburgey, and Brandon Wagner drew a walk to load the bases. After a strikeout, Kyle Holder delivered a fly ball to center that allowed Katoh to tag up and score from third.

Katoh contributed again in the second, driving a double off the wall in left-center to plate Jhalan Jackson, who had singled. Katoh and Holder each recorded three hits to lead Trenton, while Ryan McBroom collected two hits to extend his season-high hitting streak to 12 games.

Josh Ockimey brought the Sea Dogs within one run on a solo homer to right field in the fourth, but Portland managed just four scattered baserunners the rest of the way.

The Thunder added a run in the fourth on passed ball by catcher Austin Rei, and one final run in the seventh, when McBroom scored from third on a double-play grounder by Mandy Alvarez.

The win gave the Thunder the series win, three games to one.
