Thunder Take Game Three, 4-1

Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release


PARK CITY, KS -- Kris Wiebe scored two goals and Wichita goaltender Jon Horrell stopped 30 of 31shots on goal to take game three and give the Thunder a 2-1 series lead.

Bossier-Shreveport came out with quick tempo and and a sharp penalty kill in the first period. The Bugs killed of two power play advantages during the first frame and established their trademark forecheck in the scoreless period.

Wichita crashed the net in the second period, Kris Kiebe fired a puck by Ken Carroll at 6:57 to take a one goal lead. The Bugs would answer on their fourth power play opportunity of the game, Jason Basile's shot from a point went off a Wichita defender and in the net to tie the game. The Thunder would strike again, this time off a face off in the Mudbugs zone. Matt Coughlin's shot was re-directed by Travis Clayton to put the Thunder back on top.

Kris Wiebe swayed the momentum in a major way in the third period. He streaked in off a turnover in the Wichita zone and beat Ken Carroll on a breakaway to give the Thunder a two goal lead. Travis Clayton's empty netter sealed the victory at 18:39 in the third period.
