May 29, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm (4-6) scored the most points in Storm franchise history as they defeated the Thunder (1-9) by a score of 87-26 Saturday in Muskegon. The 61-point victory matches the winning margin in the May 9th meeting between teams and is the second highest winning margin ever for the Storm as they complete the season sweep of the Thunder.

The Storm set and tied a number of IFL and Storm records in the process of dismantling the Thunder before a near empty Walker Arena in Muskegon. Sean Treasure went off Saturday running for 166 yards on 23 carries as he set the bench mark for rushing yards thus far in the young existence of the IFL. Treasure?s 166 rushing yards also set the record for most rushing yards by an entire Storm team let alone a single player.

Storm QB Terrance Bryant tied his own Storm record along with the IFL record throwing for 8 touchdowns Saturday. He previously threw for 8 touchdowns July 29, 2006 versus the Lexington Horsemen. Tavon McGee caught 4 TD receptions in Muskegon tying Matt Holmland, Casey Veenhof, James Terry, and Leon Hall for most in one game in Storm history. McGee?s 4 TD grabs also tied the IFL record this season set by a number of players.

Storm Safeties Matt Lien and Brian McIntire each returned an interception for touchdowns Saturday, something that no player has done more than once in a single game thus far in the IFL.

The game started off close as the Thunder had a quick 7-6 lead over the Storm early in the first quarter after Haven Mosley ran the ball in from 4-yards out. The Storm answered with a couple of Bryant to McGee TD passes, while Muskegon mustered a 32-yard Scott Greene field goal with the first quarter ending with the Storm controlling the action leading the Thunder 20-10.

The Storm controlled the game from here on out as the Thunder only managed three possessions in the second quarter, turning the ball over twice, once on downs, and converting on another Greene field goal. Bryant and McGee connected once again in the second quarter while Brian McIntire returned a Mosley interception pushing the Storm lead to 33-13 at the half.

The Storm executed almost to perfection, demanding respect as each one of their seven possessions of the second half resulted in touchdowns, with Lien adding another TD off of a Mosley interception return. The Thunder managed a couple scores in the third quarter amidst several turnovers with the game ending in an 87-26 Storm victory improving their record to 4-6 that is just half a game back of Wichita and that last playoff spot in the central.

Terrance Bryant completed 18 of 25 passing attempts to four different Storm receivers for 190 yards and 8 TD?s. Treasure added an outstanding 166 yards on the ground. McGee was the leading receiver grabbing 7 catches for an even 100 yards and four touchdowns. James Terry ended the game with 6 catches for 54 yards, while Ben Nelson caught 4 Bryant passes for 30 yards, each of which had two scores.

The Defense once again dominated only allowing 143 total offensive yards on 10 first downs. They notched four sacks adding to their league lead of 30, while forcing Muskegon into six turnovers including three fumbles and three interceptions. They also held Muskegon on downs once. Alexander Bostic III led the team with six tackles, three being for a loss. He also forced and recovered a fumble, something that was also accomplished by Lien and Leif Murphy.

Lien and McIntire ran interceptions back for scores, while TJ Simmons intercepted a pass of his own. Rachman Crable blocked a Greene extra point tallying his fifth block of the season.

The Storm gets a week of rest this week as they have a scheduled bye. Next week they are back in Billings for the second of three meetings with the Outlaws. The Outlaws gave the Storm their first loss, on the field, of the season in week 7 as they completed a two-point conversion with less than a minute remaining on the clock to sneak past the Storm 42-41.
