Portland Thunder News Release
PORTLAND, OR - The Thunder's two-game win streak came to an end at the Moda Center, as the Arizona Rattlers (8-0) kept their undefeated season rolling. The Thunder dropped to 2-6 on the year.
The Rattlers' offense kept up its hot streak and scored every time they touched the ball for the second consecutive week, snapping the Thunder's streak of forcing a turnover in every game this season.
Rattlers quarterback Nick Davila, who leads the league in passing touchdowns and completion percentage, found his receivers to the tune of 16 completions in only 23 attempts with eight touchdowns and zero interceptions. His main target of the night was Rod Windsor, who had eight receptions for 111 yards and four touchdowns.
Thunder quarterback Danny Southwick completed 27 for 48 passes with five touchdowns and three interceptions. He connected with Douglas McNeil III (7 receptions, 112 yards) for several highlight catches downfield, and Eric Rogers set a franchise record with 13 receptions and went for 152 yards and four touchdowns. He also provided the higlight of the game by vaulting the end zone wall for a spectacular touchdown.
Unfortunately, the Rattlers' Marquis Floyd picked off three of those passes, ending Thunder drives early. Arizona's Cliff Dukes also sacked Southwick three times.
The Thunder take to the road to seek their third win of the season this Saturday, May 17, as they attempt to take down division rival San Jose on ESPN2.
