Undefeated Gladiators Remain Atop AFL vPower Rankings

CHICAGO - A 16-yard Aaron Pettrey field goal as time expired last Saturday night preserved the Cleveland Gladiators (7-0) undefeated record and kept the team atop the latest Arena Football vPower Rankings, as tabulated on AFLFieldPass.com. The Gladiators, who are off to their best start in franchise history, are still perfect on the year after holding off the LA KISS (2-6), 45-42 in Week 9. Coach Steve Thonn's squad heads to Des Moines this Saturday, May 17, for an 8:05 p.m. ET matchup with the Iowa Barnstormers on ESPN3.
The back-to-back defending ArenaBowl champion Arizona Rattlers (8-0) also remained undefeated in Week 9, knocking off the Portland Thunder (2-6), 61-32, in the first-ever meeting between the two franchises. Like the Gladiators, the Rattlers are also off to their best start in franchise history. The Rattlers will put their unblemished record on the line against the fifth-ranked Spokane Shock (5-3) in Week 10. The Shock fell to the fourth-ranked Pittsburgh Power (5-3), 52-41, last week.
Following the Shock loss, the San Jose SaberCats (5-3) moved up one spot to No. 3 in the latest vPower Rankings. San Jose had a bye in Week 9 but returns to action this week as they host the Portland Thunder on ESPN2. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Power continued on their quest to record the first winning season in franchise history. After knocking off the Shock in Spokane last week, the Power return home on Saturday to battle another West Coast team, the LA KISS. Kickoff for their first-ever matchup in "NET10 Wireless Arena Football Saturday" action is set for 6:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
