BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Bloomington PrairieThunder coach Jarrod Skalde announced Wednesday the signing of rookie forward Matt Smyth to a 14-day professional tryout opportunity in the International Hockey League.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Smyth (pronounced S-MY-th) just completed his season with Couchiching of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He scored 41 goals with 48 assists for 89 points in 43 games.
Smyth will wear No. 39 and be in uniform Wednesday when the PrairieThunder plays in Fort Wayne at 7:30 p.m.
