
Thunder sets record

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Jon Booras' goal with 0.9 seconds remaining tied the game and helped the Bloomington PrairieThunder earn a 5-4 shootout victory over Muskegon in International Hockey League action Wednesday before 2,410 people at U.S, Cellular Coliseum.
The victory ran Bloomington's unbeaten streak to a franchise record eight. The PrairieThunder is 6-0-0-2 during the stretch and moved its overall record to 18-22-1-2 (39 points).
Muskegon's record dropped to 24-14-3-1 (52 points). The teams meet again Friday in Muskegon at L.C. Walker Arena in a 6 p.m. game.
The Lumberjacks took a 2-0 lead in the first period as Robin Bouchard scored his first goal of a hat trick performance with 13:57 remaining. He was assisted on the power play effort by Matt Gens and Todd Robinson.
Maxime Lincourt scored Muskegon's second goal on assists by Adam Bartholomay and Sam Miller with 9:06 left in the first period.
Bloomington came back to tie the game in the second period when Brett Holmberg scored on a power play at the 16:10 mark with assists to Henry Kuster and Booras.
Bill Bagron tied the game on an unassisted effort with 15:04 remaining in the period before Muskegon regained the lead four minutes later on Bouchard's second goal. Assists went to Darryl McArthur and Robinson.
Bloomington forged a 3-all deadlock on Brent Clarke's goal with 3:02 to go in the second period with assists to Travis Granbois and Bagron. Muskegon then pulled back ahead, 4-3, on Bouchard's third goal with 55 seconds remaining in the period on assists by Gens and Robinson on a power play.
That set the stage for Booras' heroics with less than a second remaining after Bloomington had
pulled winning goaltender Ryan Ludzik.
The PrairieThunder's Jan Jas and John Nail scored goals as the first two shooters in the shootout. Muskegon was unsuccessful on both its shootout chances.
Ludzik raised his record over the .500 mark for the first time this season at 8-7-1-2 by stopping 36 of 40 shots in 65 minutes. He is 4-0-0-2 in his last six starts. John Ceci was the losing goalie, while stopping 33 of 37 shots
Muskegon was 2 for 8 on the power play, while Bloomington was 1 of 6.
