
Thunder loses in shootout

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Damian Surma's shootout goal gave Muskegon a 4-3 victory over Bloomington before 3,244 people Saturday night at L.C. Walker Arena in International Hockey League action.
The loss dropped Bloomington's record to 20-18-2-5 and 47 points, while league-leading Muskegon moved to 32-10-0-3 (67 points). The PrairieThunder returns to action Wednesday with a 6:30 p.m. contest at Fort Wayne
Bloomington, which had lost all four games in Muskegon this season, rallied from a 3-1 deficit midway through the second period. Matt McIlvane scored the PrairieThunder's second goal with 53 seconds left in the second period off assists by Jon Booras and Craig Macdonald.
Macdonald then tied the score with 4:15 remaining with assists to McIlvane and Jason Lepine. Surma scored in the shootout as the first shooter. Bloomington's Rick Varone, Booras and Macdonald failed in their efforts.
Todd Robinsoin scored the first of two Lumberjack goals 1:57 into the game on a power play off an assist by Michel Beausoleil. Robin Bouchard added another goal 90 seconds later on a Matt Krug assist.
Greg McCauley gave Bloomington its first goal off an assists by Nick Elligsen and Macdonald with 17 seconds left in the first period. Bloomington only managed four shots on goal in the period.
Bouchard got his second goal midway through the second period on assists by John DiPace and Robinson. The PrairieThunder closed the gap to 3-2 with 53 seconds left in the period on McIlvane's goal assists by Booras and Macdonald.
Sebastian Dahm stopped 31 of 34 shots for Bloomington, which had 73 minutes in penalties. The PrairieThunder was 9 of 10 on penalty kills.
