MOLINE, Ill. - Kyle Jones made 38 saves and Justin White broke a 1-1 tie at 13:25 of the third period as the host Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, defeated the Fort Wayne Komets 3-1 Saturday night. The win extended the Mallards regulation unbeaten streak (3-0-0-1) to four games.
White slipped past Justin Chwedorok to fire what would prove to be the game winner home from the slot.
Mike Zbriger's empty net goal finished off the win with just 22 seconds left.
Jones was at his best late, setting the stage for White's heroics by stopping 16 Fort Wayne shots in the third period alone.
The Mallards had gotten off to a superb start when Chris Lipsett rolled in a rebound just 30 seconds into the game.
The Komets would even the score at one on P.C. Drouin's wraparound at 10:37 of the first period.
The Mallards are back in action at home Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Dayton Gems. 12-ounce drafts will be available for just $2 at i wireless Center concession stands during Wednesday night's game.
