Last Time Out

Fresh from having their three-game win streak snapped, the Thunder hosted the Utah Grizzlies on Black Friday and the team from the Central Valley took the Grizzlies to the cleaners thanks in part to Alex Mallet. On the power play, Mallet carried the puck in the zone and dropped a past to his new centerman Jack MacLellan, who then fired a wrist shot near side on Joe Howe to put the Thunder on top. However Utah scored a power-play goal of their own to start the second period.

The Thunder exploded in the second with goals coming from Keith Seabrook who went upstairs on Howe during a two-on-one, MacLellan with his second of the night (once again from Mallet) and then James Henry on another two-on-one.

Tyler Shattock, who had assisted on Henry's last goal, scored his own goal on yet another odd-man rush and seconds later Mallet scored his first goal in a Thunder uniform as the team took down the Grizzlies 6-1. Mallet had three points in his debut and he was joined by MacLellan and Henry who each had three. Trudeau stopped 35 of 36 in his second ever pro win.

Tonight

The Thunder hope for some revenge against their rivals from up North as the Alaska Aces come to town for a three-in-three against the Thunder. The Thunder and Aces split the first two games in Stockton before a November road trip to Anchorage resulted in an Alaskan sweep of the Thunder. The Aces won by a combined score of 11-4.

Who to Watch

You'll have to watch one of the top Islanders prospects while he's here in Stockton because it might not be too long. Sebastian Collberg was reassigned to the Thunder yesterday and is set to make his ECHL and Thunder debut tonight against the Aces. Collberg is a former second round pick by the Montreal Canadiens and was acquired by the Islanders last year in the trade that sent Thomas Vanek to Montreal in exchange for Collberg and a pick.

Collberg's pedigree is outstanding as the 20-year-old has won a gold and two silver medals on one of the world's biggest stages, the World Junior Championships. He began playing against grown men at the age of 16, suiting up for Frolunda and Orebro in the Swedish Hockey League. Fans should enjoy Collberg while he's here because his career looks poised to take him to the top.

What a debut!

The excitement of Coleberg coming down and Jack MacLellan taking the team lead in points may have overshadowed an amazing debut for the second newest member of the Thunder Alex Mallet.

After being acquired by the Islanders in a trade that sent Andrey Pedan to the Vancouver Canucks organization, Mallet was reassigned to the Thunder and in his first game had a goal and two primary assists on both of MacLellan's goals.

Mallet now has 14 points in 15 games as he started the year with the Canucks ECHL affiliate, the Kalamazoo Wings.

Injury Update

The Thunder's leading goal scorer Tyler Maxwell is set to miss a bit of time because of a lower-body injury that forced him out of the game on 11/26. He was placed on injured reserve this week, retroactive to the 27th, meaning he won't be eligible to return until December 19 when the Thunder take on the Idaho Steelheads at Stockton Arena. Speedy winger Mike Pereira remains on the IR.

Garet Hunt however was moved off of the injured list last week and was eligible to play against the Grizzlies on Black Friday, however the team kept him out to give him some extra time to heal from his lower-body injury. He could make his return tonight.

Isles Halak is ECHL Alumnus of November

After going 9-1-0 during November with 3 shutouts, a 1.37 goals-against-average and a .950 save-percentage, Isles goalie Jaroslav Halak was named the ECHL Alumnus of the Month of November. The Slovakian netminder was a Long Beach Ice Dog in 2005-06 playing 20 ECHL games.

This is the second time Halak has won this award as he was named the alumnus of the month in October of last season.
