
Thunder Fall to Port Huron Again

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Nick Lindberg scored a goal and added two assists to lead Port Huron to a 6-1 victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder before 2,258 people at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in International Hockey League action Thursday.
The win extended Port Huron's winning streak to nine games this season against the PrairieThunder and 13 over the last two years.
The same two teams meet again Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Port Huron leads the league with a 31-16-4-1 record (67 points). Bloomington has a 22-25-1-3 record (48 points).
Ian Turner started the Port Huron scoring with 15:08 remaining in the first period off assists from Tab Lardner and Derek Patrosso. The PrairieThunder drew even 73 seconds later on a Corey Rutt goal with the assist to Nick Goyens.
It was all Port Huron after that as Kerry Bowman and Jamie Carroll netted first period goals for a 3-1 advantage. Lindberg had assists on each goal with B.J. Adams and Steve Rymsha also picking up assists.
The IceHawks added three goals in the second period by Daniel Tetrault, Turner and Lindberg. The assists went to Jamie Lovell, Lardner, Patrosso, Tetrault and Carroll. The goals by Turner and Lindberg were on power plays.
Port Huron was successful on 2 of 6 power plays, while Bloomington misfired on three chances. Bloomington owned a 30-28 advantage in shots on goal.
Larry Sterling was the winning goalie, while Bloomington's Ryan Ludzik had an eight-game unbeaten string and four-game winning streak snapped. Ludzik was pulled after stopping 15 of 21 shots in only two periods. Jason Wolfe stopped seven shots in the third period for the PrairieThunder.
