Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS (Oct. 30th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced today that the team has acquired veteran defenseman Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel (DEE-ah-day FAH-vel) from the Wheeling Nailers for financial considerations.
Dieude-Fauvel, 30, brings eight years of professional experience in North America to the Wichita blueline. A native of Bordeaux, France, the 6-foot-2, 216-pound defenseman has played in the American Hockey League, ECHL and Central Hockey League over his career. He also represented Team France at the World Championships for three straight seasons.
Last year, Dieude-Fauvel began the season with the Elmira Jackals before being dealt to the Missouri Mavericks for a late playoff push. In 65 games, he collected 11 points (2g, 9a) and also served as an alternate captain for the Jackals.
His most productive year of his career came between 2013-14, where he posted 40 points (11g, 29a) with the Quad City Mallards. He earned a call-up the next season to the AHL's Iowa Wild, where he appeared in 20 games. Overall, Dieude-Fauvel has 146 points (44g, 102a) and 486 penalty minutes in 450 career games as a pro.
