CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Threshers were held to just three hits on Sunday afternoon in the series finale against the Tampa Tarpons.

The Tarpons scored three runs in the first inning thanks to a three-run home run off the bat of Carlos Narvaez.

The Threshers fought back in the second with two runs scored. Kendall Simmons drew a walk and stole second base to put himself in scoring position, and Carlos De La Cruz drove him home with a double to right field. De La Cruz crossed the plate three batters later after taking advantage of two ground outs, bringing the game within one with a score of 3-2.

Andres Chaparro and Juan De Leon homered in back-to-back innings for the Tarpons extending their lead to 6-2.

The teams traded threes on the scoreboard in the fifth. Tampa walked in a run and De Leon hit a sharp double into center field that scored two and pushed the Tarpons ahead 9-2. Clearwater answered with a three-run home run off the bat of Juan Aparicio that decreased the difference to 9-5. Aparicio extended his hitting streak to seven games with the blast.

Tampa sealed the deal with a two-run RBI from Jesus Bastidas in the seventh and put an exclamation on the final score with Austin Well's third home run in as many days.

The Threshers will observe the league-wide day off on Monday and then travel to Dunedin for a six-game series beginning Tuesday, June 15.
