Clearwater Threshers News Release

DUNEDIN, Fl - The Clearwater Threshers dropped a fifth consecutive contest in shutout fashion 7-0 to the Dunedin Blue Jays on Wednesday night at TD Ballpark.

Right-hander Eiberson Castellano made his sixth start of the season on the mound for Clearwater, allowing five runs, four earned on five hits and striking out only two in four innings of work.

The Blue Jays (7-3, 35-41) opened the scoring early, including a two-run home run by Gabby Martinez in the first, as the home team scratched across runs in the first three innings to build a commanding 5-0 lead at the end of the three frames.

Three relievers appeared out of the Threshers bullpen as righty Sam Jacobask, lefty Jared Wetherbee and right-hander Konnor Ash combined to allow two runs on only five hits and struck out five in four innings.

The Threshers (2-9, 37-39) managed seven hits in the game, stranding 11 runners on base and couldn't string together any major scoring threats. The lone bright spot offensively, DH Micah Yonamine, finished the contest 3-for-4 with a double for the Threshers.

Clearwater will look to snap the five-game losing streak in game three of the six-game set on Thursday night. Southpaw Gabriel Cotto (1-1, 4.02 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Threshers. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. and coverage on the Threshers Broadcasting Network will begin at 6:20 p.m.
