CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The Clearwater Threshers carried a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Jupiter Hammerheads rallied to tie the game on their way to handing Clearwater a 6-5 loss in 11 innings on Tuesday.

With the Threshers clinging to a one-run advantage in the ninth, Blake Barber tripled off of Jordan Guth to put the tying run at third to start the inning. After Guth got Noah Perio to pop out in foul territory, Cameron Flynn delivered an RBI single to center to knot the teams up at five apiece.

After the Threshers threatened in the ninth and tenth innings, it was the Hammerheads who plated the go-ahead off Lee Ridenhour (0-3) in the 11th. With runners at the corners, Matt Juengel hit a slow grounder to third that resulted in a fielder's choice at second, but Perio scored to make it 6-5 Jupiter.

Clearwater (8-27) had jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning against Jupiter starting pitcher Josh Hodges.

Art Charles and KC Serna both worked walks to open the inning, and Andrew Knapp stepped in and delivered a single up the middle to plate the game's first run.

After a strikeout of Logan Moore, Willie Carmona drew a free pass to load the bases. Brian Pointer pushed a run home with a groundout to second, and Angelo Mora followed by lining an opposite-field single to bring home both Knapp and Carmona.

Jupiter (17-21) got one back off starter Brody Colvin in the third inning, but the Threshers would answer with one of their own in the bottom half to regain the four-run advantage.

Anthony Phillips drew a base on balls to lead off, and with two outs Serna and Knapp strung together back-to-back singles to extend the Threshers' advantage to 5-1.

From there, Jupiter would plate five unanswered runs throughout the remainder of the ballgame.

Clearwater will look to get one back on Wednesday, when the Threshers host the Hammerheads for Anti-Bullying Education Day at Bright House Field at 10:30 a.m. The call can be heard live on threshersbaseball.com beginning at 10:15 a.m.
