CLEARWATER, FL - With rain ending the game in the seventh inning, the Clearwater Threshers (74-38, 30-17) took a 3-1 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays (52-61, 20-27) in a shortened game at BayCare Ballpark on Saturday night. The Threshers go for the series win against Dunedin on Sunday afternoon in Clearwater.

An RBI single in the third inning put the Blue Jays ahead 1-0 and opened the scoring. Chad Castillo hit a solo home run off Dunedin starter Lazaro Estrada to tie the game at one in the fifth.

Zach Arnold led off the sixth with a single to right field. Felix Reyes sent the first pitch he saw into right field. The ball bounced away from Jaden Rudd and Arnold took advantage, scoring from first on the double to give the Threshers a 2-1 lead.

Cole Moore led off the seventh with a single off newly entered Blue Jays reliever Winder Garcia. Castillo followed with a one-out hit that moved Moore to second, and he scored on a base hit by Boyd that doubled the Threshers lead to 3-1 before a rain delay halted play at the end of the seventh. Due to unplayable conditions, the score remained at 3-1 with the Threshers winning in seven innings.

Estibenzon Jiménez allowed one run on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts in a no-decision. Daniel Harper (1-1) retired all six batters he faced in 2.0 shutout innings with one strikeout to earn the win.
