Three-Way Trade Lands Brock

July 11, 2002 - Northeast League (NEL)
Adirondack Lumberjacks News Release

Glens Falls, NY- The Adirondack Lumberjacks, of the Northern League, announced today that they have completed a three-team trade that will land the Jacks INF Todd Brock from the Berkshire Black Bears.

The deal, orchestrated by the Lumberjacks, Black Bears, and the Schaumburg Flyers, sends Brock to the Jacks, INF Ender Gonzalez from the Flyers to the Black Bears, and Lumberjacks outfielder Rodney Clifton to the Flyers.

So far this season, Brock, a career independent player, has hit .242 while playing for the Black Bears. Brock has connected on five home runs and has driven in 17. The 5'11 185 pound infielder hit .277 with 13 home runs and 44 RBI's in 2001 as a member of the Greenville (MS) Bluesmen of the Texas-Louisiana League (now the Central League).

"With Eppie Guerrero on the DL, we needed help in the infield. We expected a lot production from Rodney. His performance was a major disappointment," stated Jacks General Manager Curt Jacey. "Brock should provide immediate help for our needs."

Clifton had hit a sophomore slump in his second season with the Jacks. In 40 games, Rodney had hit a disappointing .230, while hitting only two home runs and driving in only 16.

The Lumberjacks and Pepsi will be presenting fireworks on Saturday, July 20 as the Jacks take on the Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs at East Field. Game time is 6 PM, with gates opening at 5 PM. For tickets, call the Lumberjacks Ticket Office at (518) 743-9618.
