
Three Washington Spirit Players Named to U.S. WNT Roster for European Tour

Boyds, Md. - U.S. Women's National Team Coach Jill Ellis has named her 24-player roster for the upcoming European tour, which includes three Washington Spirit players: midfielder Rose Lavelle, midfielder Andi Sullivan and forward Mallory Pugh.
The U.S. is fresh of off a dominant display at the CONCACAF Women's Championship, in which they finished with a record of 5-0-0, scored 26 goals, and conceded none. Lavelle contributed three goals of her own, including the game-deciding goal in the 2nd minute of play during the championship final. In addition to this, Lavelle appeared in all five games, and also contributed with one assist. Lavelle has made 18 appearances for the national team, and has netting six goals.
Pugh also featured for the U.S. during the CONCACAF Championship, making four appearances for the U.S., utilized mostly as a substitute to secure and see out victories late into games. The twenty-year-old has become a regular within the U.S. senior squad, already making 41 appearances early into her professional career, scoring 12 times.
Sullivan, whose last call up came in April for friendlies against Mexico,is one of six players to earn a spot on Ellis' 24-player roster, who did not compete in the CONCACAF Championship. Sullivan has been a product of the U.S. youth system, making appearances for the U-17s, U-20s, and U-23s, but the 22-year-old will now be looking to solidify her place with the senior team during the tour. The Spirit midfielder has previously made ten appearances for the U.S. WNT.
The U.S. will be traveling to Lisbon to take on Portugal on November 8 at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN2, before moving to Paisley to challenge Scotland on November 13, at 2 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1. These two matches will the the U.S.'s first two away games of the year, and their first trip to Europe since the summer of 2017. It will also be the U.S.'s first friendly played in Scotland.
