
Three TFC Canadian Players Named To U-20 Roster

Toronto FC announced Tuesday that Nana Attakora-Gyan, Gabe Gala, and Joey Melo have all been named by Head Coach Ray Clark to the 19 player roster for the Canadian U-20 friendly against Argentina. The match will be played at BMO Field, May 11 and will be exactly a year to the day that the two sides met in a friendly at BMO Field prior to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Toronto.
Canada was defeated 2-1 that day; a few months later Argentina went on to win their sixth world title.
Attakora-Gyan (12 Caps -youth level) and Gala (9 Caps - youth level) are both returning to the squad, while Melo will be making his first appearance. The team is comprised of Canadian players born 1989 or later.
The match against Argentina marks the beginning of Canada's preparations for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009 that will be held in Egypt. The provisional dates for the tournament are July 10-31, 2009 with Cairo, Port Said, Alexandria, and Ismailia set to host matches.
