SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings (13-7-3) scored first, but three second-period goals from the Louisiana IceGators (9-11-3) pushed the visitors past the RiverKings, 5-1, on Saturday night in Southaven.

The RiverKings got on the board first early in the first period. Linden Bahm took a Leo Thomas pass in the low slot and beat Adam Courchaine to put the RiverKings on top 1-0.

It was all Louisiana in the second period. John Daniels lifted a backhand shot over the glove of Garrett Sheehan to tie the game at one 5:25 into the second. The IceGators took the lead 13:35 into the frame when Jeremy Boyer forced a turnover at the blueline on the penalty kill and found Luke Sandler on a breakaway who beat Sheehan over the blocker to give Louisiana a 2-1 lead. Blake Hietala finished the three-goal frame when he found the back of the net four minutes later to put the IceGators ahead by two.

The 'Gators added to their lead in the third. Jeremy Boyer hammered home a pass from the corner from Luke Sandler to give Louisiana a 4-1 lead and with a minute left Daniels tallied his second goal of the game and the IceGators won their third game of the year against the RiverKings 5-1.

Garrett Sheehan (0-3-2) took the loss after stopping 27 of 32 shots against. Adam Courchaine stopped five of six shots before being injured on a shot to the face mask early in the first period. Brad Barone (2-3-1) picked up the win, stopping all 24 shots he faced.

The RiverKings went 0-6 on the power play and Louisiana was held scoreless on their pair of man-advantage opportunities.

Following the game, the RiverKings auctioned off their Elvis jerseys to benefit the RiverKings ReachOut Fund at the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi. The auction raised $9,550 for the non-profit fund that will be distributed to organizations across the Mid-South.

The RiverKings return to Concorde Career College Ice at the Landers Center on Friday, January 15 as they look to Pack the House for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, presented by Belhaven University. All tickets are discounted $5 anywhere in the building and are available at the Landers Center box office or on Ticketmaster.
