Tucson Sidewinders News Release
Oklahoma plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday night to overtake Tucson and defeat the Sidewinders 3-1 at SBC Bricktown Ballpark in front of 10,740.
The Redhawks tied the game at 1 with a double from Gerald Laird which skipped off third baseman Chad Tracy's glove. The go-ahead run scored on an infield ground out by Manny Alexander. Brian Bruney's wild pitch produced the third run of the inning.
Lee Marshall (2-5) suffered the loss allowing two runs a night after earning a win throwing two scoreless innings.
The Oklahoma comeback wasted a fine pitching performance from Sidewinders starter Brady Raggio. The right-hander allowed four hits and no runs in seven innings of work with no walks and five strikeouts. Raggio threw 61 of his 85 pitches for strikes and allowed only one baserunner to reach third.
Mike Bell connected for Tucson's only run with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
The Sidewinders dropped to 32-38. Tucson and Oklahoma will meet in game two of the series Wednesday night at 5:05 p.m. (Tucson time). Matt Henrie will join Tucson from Class-A Lancaster to start the game. Colby Lewis will take to the hill for the Redhawks. THE GAME WILL BE TAPE DELAYED ON AM 990 KTKT AT 6:00 P.M.
