Three Points: LA Galaxy lose first California Clásico of the season to San Jose Earthquakes, 3-1

STANFORD, Calif. - LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Points from the Galaxy's 3-1 defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes. The loss snaps the Galaxy's three game unbeaten run.

SAN JOSE BATTLE BACK

The LA Galaxy took an early lead but the San Jose Earthquakes rallied with three unanswered goals to dispatch the defending MLS Cup champions.

After Juninho gave the Galaxy the lead, San Jose equalized less than 10 minutes later when Chris Wondolowski capitalized on a giveaway at midfield, and then nodded a pinpoint Matias Perez-Garcia cross into the back of the net. In the second half, San Jose went ahead off a corner kick as Clarence Goodson took advantadge of some poor marking by the Galaxy to give the Earthquakes an advantage that they did not concede.

Second-half substitute Cordell Cato delivered the final blow in the 77th minute by cutting past defender Dan Gargan and then firing a shot by Penedo to seal the win for San Jose.

GALAXY LOOK EXHAUSTED AFTER THIRD MATCH IN EIGHT DAYS

The LA Galaxy were playing their third game in eight days on Saturday, and the busy schedule took its toll in their 3-1 defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes.

Despite taking the lead in the 17th minute, the Galaxy faded after conceding their advantage in the 28th minute. After Wondolowski's goal, the Earthquakes appeared quicker to each and every loose ball as their pressure overwhelmed the Galaxy midfield en route to three unanswered goals.

There will be no break for Bruce Arena's men, however, as they'll now have to travel back to San Jose on Wednesday for a U.S. Open Cup clash against the Earthquakes. They'll play that match without starters Omar Gonzalez, Gyasi Zardes and Jaime Penedo who will depart for CONCACAF Gold Cup duty on Monday.

JUNINHO EXTENDS SCORING STREAK

Juninho just can't stop scoring.

The LA Galaxy's Brazilian midfield metronome opened the scoring with a rocket of a shot from beyond 30 yards in the 17th minute to extend his scoring run to three consecutive games. The Brazilian has now scored three goals in three straight games for the second time in his Galaxy career.

With Steven Gerrard's arrival only two weeks away, the Galaxy must be salivating at the prospect at having the in-form Juninho line up beside to the Englishman.
