Three More Players added to 2006 Rough Riders Roster

Peoria Rough Riders Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Chuck Goodwin has announced the signings of Defensive Specialist Jason Ward, LB Milton McFarland and WR/DB Benyea Hurst.

Jason Ward, a 5'9" 180 lbs. defensive specialist, has joined the Peoria Rough Riders 2006 team. Ward attended college at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. Jason was a two time Illini-Badger All-Conference Performer for the Eagles (98-99). During his career at BU, Ward tallied 15 interceptions including one for a touchdown and blocked 3 field goals. Ward also played in the 2000 National All-Star Game in Louisville, KY.

For the last two seasons Ward has played semi pro football with the Kane County Eagles where he was a teammate of Rough Riders QB Matt Schabert. While with the Eagles Ward has intercepted 9 passes, 2 returned for touchdowns, and was selected to play in the 2004 National Association Football League (NAFL) All-Star Game.

Milton McFarland will begin his professional career with the Peoria Rough Riders in 2006. The 6'2" LB has spent the last three seasons with the Chicago Thunder Semi-Pro team. This past season McFarland registered 65 tackles (48 solos), 31/2 sacks and forced five fumbles recovering 3. This season the Chicago Thunder football team was crowned the Chicago Football League Champions.

Benyea (Ben-yea) Hurst will also join the Rough Riders in 2006. Benyea played college ball at NAIA Mt. Senario College in Ladysmith WI. Hurst will be counted on to bring speed to this year's roster averaging 40-yard dash times between 4.3 and 4.5 seconds.
