Milwaukee, WI (June 20, 2006) - Milwaukee Wave Vice President of Soccer Operations and Head Coach Keith Tozer announced today that three members of the Wave were selected in the Major Indoor Soccer League's (MISL) 2006 Detroit Ignition Expansion Draft. Defender, Jonathan Greenfield, forward, Hewerton and midfielder, Kyt Selaidopoulos were selected by the Detroit Ignition.
"I'm sorry to see three of our younger players lost in this expansion draft," said Tozer. "But at the same time, it's great to have a new team in the league and sometimes it takes losses like this to grow. All three of these players have been dedicated to the Wave in their time here and they'll remain with the summer camp staff throughout the summer."
Jonathan Greenfield played in 47 games with Milwaukee over the last two seasons, including a career-best 30 games in the 2005-06 season. He finished the year with nine points on seven goals and two assists to go along with eight blocks. The native of South Africa has career numbers of nine goals, five assists, 14 points and 13 blocks.
Two-year veteran, Hewerton, played in 47 games with the Wave after coming to the club from the San Diego Sockers in the 2004 Dispersal Draft. In the 2005-06 season he produced eight goals and five assists for 13 points in 29 games. Hewerton has scored 17 goals and set up nine scores for 26 points in his two MISL seasons.
Midfielder, Kyt Selaidopoulos, came to the Wave from the Cleveland Force in the 2005 MISL Dispersal Draft. He played in 28 games with Milwaukee, scoring 16 points (six goals and ten assists) and blocking nine shots. Before joining the Wave, the Montreal, Canada, native played for the Chicago Power, Montreal Impact and Cleveland Force. In 96 career games, Selaidopoulos has 20 goals and 19 assists.
