Three Homers Power Jupiter to 9-5 Win

After being shut out the night before, the Jupiter Hammerheads' offense surges on Wednesday night. The Hammerheads outslug the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels by a score of 9-5 to even the series at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

The Mighty Mussels got the first run on the board in the first inning before the bats woke up. Yiddi Cappe electrified the crowd at RDCS as he raced around the bases for an inside-the-park homer in the third inning. It was the first home run for the Marlins' No. 12 overall prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

The Mussels responded with three runs in the fourth to regain the lead. Two of the runs in the inning were walked in with the bases loaded.

In the fifth inning, the Hammerheads would tie the game at 4-4 with a career first. Outfielder Chase Luttrell hit his first professional home run with a three-run blast to right field. The Marlins 13th round draft pick from Long Beach State finished the game 1-3.

The two clubs would each score in the sixth inning. Fort Myers would tack on one run to take back the lead. However, the Hammerheads would get another career-first home run, this time a Torin Montgomery blast. The former Mizzou Tiger hit a no-doubter to left field to drive in two and give the Hammerheads a 6-5 lead.

From there on the Hammerheads would just pile on and pad their lead. In the seventh, consecutive doubles from Joe Mack and Brady Allen would make it an 8-5 game. Then, Marlins 2022 first-rounder Jacob Berry drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

All nine starters for the Hammerheads would collect a hit on Wednesday with six different players picking up at least one RBI. Jupiter tallied 14 total hits on the night. Four players would finish with multiple hits too. Allen would finish with a team-high three hits on the night ending 3-5

On the mound, Sandro Bargallo started and worked 3.2 innings. The lefty struck out six batters but gave up four walks before being replaced by Luarbert Arias.

Arias pitched two full innings with three strikeouts, two hits, and one earned run. Following the Venezuelan was Jake Schrand. The righty pitched three innings and earned his fourth win on the season. The Cincinnati native would didn't allow a run and struck out two. Caleb Wurster would come in for the final out to pick up his team-leading eighth save this season.

The two clubs will play again Thursday night at RDCS. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM on Thirsty Thursday!
