Houston Dash News Release
Three Houston Dash starters will represent the Canadian Women's National Team (CanWNT) in a pair of friendlies against Mexico, Canada Soccer announced today. The matches will be Canada's final two of the year after a successful international campaign which featured an Olympic Gold Medal in Tokyo this summer.
Forward Nichelle Prince, midfielder Sophie Schmidt, and defender Allysha Chapman were named to the CanWNT roster Thursday afternoon.
Canada will travel to Mexico to face the Mexican Women's National Team on Nov. 27 and Nov. 30. Venues and times will be announced at a later date. The last time both teams faced one another was during the 2020 Concacaf Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament, with Canada beating Mexico 2-0.
All three Canadian internationals are not only coming off a long NWSL regular season, but they are also wrapping up a long soccer year which featured a gold medal victory in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Schmidt is one of three players on the CanWNT to be a three-time Olympic medalist. Both Chapman and Prince have won two medals for Canada.
The Canadian trio featured in the Starting XI for Houston's final game of the NWSL regular season against the Washington Spirit on Oct. 31. Prince led the team with six tackles against the Spirit and Schmidt finished with five interceptions and 11 recoveries. Chapman had three clearances and six recoveries in the match.
