Houston Dash News Release
The Houston Dash have agreed to a contract extension with forward Nichelle Prince, the team announced today. Prince signed a multi-year extension that will see the forward remain in Houston through the 2024 season.
"I am very happy that Nichelle has extended her stay with the Dash," Head Coach James Clarkson said. "Her continued development has been outstanding, and the future is so exciting. She is a match winner and an elite performer who can bring us success."
Prince started in 15 matches during the 2021 NWSL regular season. The Canada international finished her fifth season with the Dash with two goals and three assists. Prince was an integral part of the Dash attack in 2021 which collectively scored a club-record 31 goals.
"It's an honor to get the opportunity to resign with the Dash and to be able to continue to represent this amazing city," Prince said. "I have so much belief in this club and what we are able to accomplish. To have another three years to be a part of that is a huge privilege, so I look forward to continuing to put in the work to make our fans and this city proud."
As one of the veteran leaders on the Dash, Prince has been a key piece in the Dash attack for the last five seasons. Prince has scored seven goals and has tallied six assists since joining the team in 2017. Prince was the 38th overall pick in the 2017 NWSL Draft.
Prince has been a member of the Canadian Women's National team since 2016. In 2021, she helped CanWNT defeat the Sweden, United States, and Brazil in route to an Olympic Gold Medal in the 2020 Toyko Olympics this past summer. In the five years representing CanWNT, Prince has won three Concacaf medals and scored a goal in the group stage during the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.
