Thorns FC Top Orlando Pride in 2-1 Win at Providence Park

PORTLAND, Ore. - With a goal in each half, Thorns FC earned a 2-1 win against the Orlando Pride at Providence Park on Sunday night. Sophia Smith tallied her third goal of the season, while Marissa Everett scored her first goal of the campaign - the game winner - to help Portland secure the victory.

Goal Scorers

In eight appearances (4 starts) for Thorns FC (6-3-1, 16pts) this season, Smith has recorded three goals. All three of her goals have come at Providence Park. With Everett's first goal of the 2021 campaign, she is ninth different player to score this season for Portland. The goal was the second of her career and her first goal since 2019.

In 13 matches played against Orlando, including playoffs, Thorns FC lead the all-time series with a record of 10-2-1. ORL - Marisa Viggiano (Abi Kim), 90+5th minute: From the right wing, Kim sent a cross back across the 18-yard-box finding the feet of Viggiano. Taking a touch and setting it up onto her left foot, Viggiano fired a shot into the top left corner of the goal.

Mark Parsons recorded his 75th career NWSL win, which ranks as the second-most wins in league history.

Sophia Smith scored her third goal of the 2021 campaign.

Meghan Klingenberg recorded her second assist of the 2021 season.

The assist marked Klingenberg's 14th all-time with club, which is tied for second-most in club history with Christine Sinclair.

Rocky Rodríguez tallied her third career assist across all competitions for Portland.

Natalia Kuikka led the team with four chances created.

Thorns FC have attempted an NWSL-high 210 shots this season.

Portland has scored in all but one of their 13 matchups against Orlando (0-0 draw on Sept. 23, 2017).
